Though artistic research can have many faces it is usually based on the artistic knowledge and its focus is on the individual artistic work and research. Therefor artistic research and artistic work belong together and can inspire each other. Such meetings are important in the search for new knowledge and new practices.

Inter Arts Center facilitates cross-over projects between the arts and also between the arts and other research disciplines.

Within the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts in Malmö PhD education and artistic research are conducted in music, theatre and visual arts and in the related discipline music education.
