Rethinking the functions and relations between elements and art forms in a theatre performance has been one of the core explorations of the theatre throughout the twentieth century, and it continues to evolve in new directions. Consequently, roles and functions of the artists involved in staging a production also have had to change, questions concerning hierarchical aspects between art forms and artists have emerged, and necessarily new methods for the artistic processes has to be developed.
