The project “Automatic Prophecies” departs from an interest in how computational simulations are used within a range of scientific disciplines to approximate states of becoming – states that are situated in between the factual and the potential. The project dwells on how these states can be traced as areas of interest in various different fields such as biology and engineering but also occultism and religious painting. Through experimentation with simulation, digital imaging and ancient methods of divination the project have been exploring various ways to approach these states of becoming, blurring the borders between scientific and pre-scientific ways of revealing the unknown.
