Invisible sounds: music for guitars and electronics

Invisible sounds is a sound installation recorded in Piteå Port in September, in collaboration between Stefan Östersjö and the composer Anders Hultqvist and Jan Berg, professor of Sound engineering at Luleå University of Technology. The project draws out sonic layers from the site that are beyond human perception using sensor technology and hydrophones. This installation is presented in the space from 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm. The concert holds the world premiere of Martin Svensson’s Mirage for 11-string alto guitar and electronics, and a performance of Richard Karpen’s composition Strandlines for 6-string guitar and electronics, created in close collaboration with Östersjö.

Stefan Östersjö is a leading classical guitarist, often working in close collaboration with composers, improvisers and artists in a wide range of disciplines. He is chaired professor of musical performance at Luleå University of Technology. This program reflects his interests in live electronics and sound art. Östersjö has released 22 CDs and toured Europe, Asia and in the US.
