Just before the pandemic, the eyes of the world were on the big fires in Australia. According to the NSW Rural Fire Service, more than 11.000 bush or grass fires burnt 5,4 million hectares, destroyed 2,439 homes, and approximately 24 megalitres of fire retardant was used. In the tradition of cinéma pour l’oreille, Benoit Bories’ sound documentary “Gateway” gives us an overview on how Australian landscape is changing due to colonisation and exploitation of natural resources.
