Kirstine Lindemann

Kirstine Lindemann

With a special interest in the body and the movement as compositional material Lindemann’s work as an instrumentalist, composer and performer focuses on that space between you and I. In her pieces the body and sound form part of an exploration of the limitations and the possibilities of connection posed by the body when it is understood as a musical instrument.

Lindemann’s work has been presented in great parts of Europe within various fields of music, dance, theater and performance. She was granted the 1st prize in the TUF chamber music competition in Iceland as an instrumentalist and the Dioraphte Gold Award at Amsterdam Fringe Festival as a performer. Currently she is part of the Danish Arts Council’s programme, ‘The Young Artistic Elite’ supporting her activities as a performer and composer.

She has been in charge of various interdisciplinary projects among these the research BREATH in which aspects of the breath as a sound source and visual expression is explored. The last phase of the work will be presented in collaboration with Aabne Scene and Aarhus Lung Choir for lung patients at Godsbanen 2021.

Currently she is working on the installation and concert programme ‘Between Strings’ commissioned by the Vienna-based ensemble, ‘Between Feathers’ along with her duo-project OTHER EYE with composer-performer, Yiran Zhao.

In 20-21 OTHER EYE will be collaborating with the Academy of Art and Design, Basel (CH), Nikolaj Kunsthal (DK), Neue Vokalsolisten and Theaterhaus Stuttgart (DE).

Furthermore, Lindemann is a member of Damkapellet and writing the music for the project ‘Cocktails with Konstmusiksystrar’ (SE) in collaboration with Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (GB).
