Brakfesten – a digital gesamtkunstwerk, a dance on the volcano’s edge, a quartet for the end of times.

For this project the newly formed league Utopidepartementet departs from Oliver Messiaen’s piece Quartet for the End of Time – written in a concentration camp in 1940. With newly composed music and images the musicians and artists meditate upon what it means to be at the end of time in relation to today’s environmental crisis. Brakfesten will be an interactive digital artwork, a musical and visual labyrinth branching out into a vast and complex maze.

For this project Utopidepartementet consists of four musicians: Eva Lindal (violin), Magnus Granberg (piano/clarinet), Stina Hellberg Agback (harp), Leo Svensson (cello) and three artists/scenographers: Sanne Hellberg, Oona Libens and Johannes Heldén.
